Join 99 PKTS on the Golden Farm Picket Line
Where: Golden Farm, 329 Church Ave, Brooklyn NY 11218
99 Pickets and the OWS community are joining workers and Kensington residents on the Golden Farm picket line this Satuday from 12pm-2pm. The workers at the Brooklyn grocery store are asking customers to not shop at Golden Farm until its owner agrees to negotiate in good faith and start paying the hundreds of thousands of dollars in back wages he owes them. Every day the picket turns away hundreds of customers!
If you can’t make it at the 99PKTS gathering on Saturday, sign up for a slot. Community members are picketing Mon-Fri 4pm-7pm & Sat/Sun 8am – 8pm. Golden Farm is at 329 Church Ave. Brooklyn.
Since its opening in the late nineties the store hasn’t paid minimum wage or overtime. That situation changed when workers filed a lawsuit on March 2011 to demand back-wages and basic benefits like sick days, paid vacation and a contract that guarantees job security. The owner Mr. Sonny Kim refuses to pay what he owes and to sign a contract that will give all workers basic benefits and continued protection on the job.
